Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become a Client?
You can contact me through email or phone if you have any questions or concerns before starting treatment. I understand that counseling can be scary and a good fit between client and counselor is important. If you are feeling ready to get started you can click the “Connect with Kaylee” link to schedule a consultation appointment.
Once we book your initial appointment, you will get an email to access your client portal. This is an efficient and paperless way for you to do your required paperwork, and it makes it easy for me to access it in the system. Please be aware that all paperwork must be complete in order for us to have our initial appointment.
How do I pay for therapy?
Payment Policy
Payment is due at the time of rendering services, either immediately before or after the therapy session. Acceptable forms of payment include Cash, Check, Credit or Debit, or online via Client Portal.
Fees for services vary depending on the type of counseling service, length of service, and contracted rates with insurance.
Reduced fees (i.e., sliding scale) services are available upon request and are based on availability and verified need.
I am currently able to work with several health insurance companies as an in-network or out-of-network mental health provider. Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance.
Do you accept my Insurance?
Insurance I am currently accepting: Blue Cross, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Mountain Health Co-Op, St. Luke’s Health Plan, Select Health, Pacific Source, and Regence.
Because plans differ greatly and it can be confusing, I encourage you to contact your insurance company and ask them about your mental health benefits.
Please be aware that I cannot predict or guarantee what amount, if any, your insurance will reimburse, and you will be responsible for the remaining amount. Also, most insurance companies require a clinical mental health diagnosis to qualify.
Good Faith Estimate Notice
Under the “no surprises act,” health care providers must provide un-insured or self-pay patients, upon request, a “Good Faith Estimate” of the total expected charges for non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You may ask your provider for this estimate before you schedule a service and have the right to file a dispute of charges if you receive a bill $400+ above the estimate, so long as the dispute is filed within 120 days of the disputed invoice. Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, talk with your counselor and/or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Cancellation/ No-Show Policy
Our therapeutic time together is important. I understand that sometimes life happens, and unexpected changes can happen in our plans. However, in respect of our valuable therapeutic time together, I ask that if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you contact me by 7 am the day of your appointment. Failure to notify me that you need to cancel or reschedule by 7 am the day of your appointment will result in a full session fee. Please note that health insurance plans do not cover missed appointments, and it will be your responsibility to pay before your next scheduled appointment.
If you are running late for your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. If I have not heard from you within the first 20 minutes of your session, I will assume that you are a “no-show” and your session will be forfeited, and you will be billed at your full rate.
The Therapeutic Process
Our Initial Session (Intake):
Our first session will look different than other sessions, my goal is to get to know you, your history, the issues you are facing as well as fulfill any of my obligations to your insurance company. During the intake, I will be asking you questions and taking notes so I may develop a thorough understanding of what is happening for you. We will also spend some time discussing the therapeutic process, going over consent documents, and answering any questions you may have about counseling.
Intake for Adolescents and Teens:
Intake sessions for adolescents and teens will be completed with parents and/or guardians before my first session with your child. This session will be focused on establishing a therapeutic alliance between you and myself, to best meet the needs of your child.
The Journey
In the sessions following intake, we will begin the process by setting goals and creating a treatment plan. This is a collaborative process that is centered on your individual needs and desires for counseling. After we have established your goals, we will work together to build a therapeutic relationship. I will work to support you and establish a therapeutic environment that gives you the space to explore your inner world and develop radical acceptance. I will introduce different trauma-focused modalities to help foster growth and change in your life. I hope to build trust and allow our time together to be authentic and supportive of your healing journey.
Ending Therapy
The work we do together will eventually leave you feeling like you are ready to continue life without counseling, and it will be time for you to graduate from counseling. The ending of therapy is an important piece to the process, and I strive to make sure you are ready to say goodbye
.Moving forward from the therapeutic relationship is a big deal and can feel challenging. Graduating from counseling means you have done great and important work, and can also feel like a loss, as the therapeutic relationship is rooted in connection and support. Throughout this process, we will work together to celebrate your progress, grieve the ending of our relationship, and prepare for a healthy goodbye.
